Jim Ronai started The Competitive Edge program in 1997. Jim's mission is to educate and train
young athletes to utilize the principles of conditioning and strength training as a means of promoting
peak athletic performance and life long healthy habits. Ronai has developed his program around a
core of "7 Principles of Athleticism". These include AGILITY, COORDINATION, CORE BALANCE,
FLEXIBILITY, POWER, SPEED and STRENGTH. Ronai believes that as an athlete masters these
athletic skills, they develop the necessary self-confidence and discipline to excel in sport and in life.
In addition to his work in athletic performance enhancement, Ronai is the Director of Physical Therapy
and Sports Medicine at
Rehabilitation Associates, Inc. Ronai holds a Masters degree in Physical
Therapy from Springfield College. He is a certified athletic trainer through the
National Athletic
Trainer's Association (NATA) as well as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the
National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). Ronai's vast experience in sports medicine
include work with multiple High School, College, Professional and Olympic teams and athletes. Ronai
served as an athletic trainer for the 2002 and 2006 Winter Olympic Team where his Bobsled and
Skeleton athletes brought home Gold and Silver! His duties also included assistance with all 2002 and
2006 Olympians including Hockey, Skating and Skiing athletes. Jim continues to consult for the
US
Bobsled and Skeleton Federation. Additionally, Ronai serves on the USA Baseball Medical Safety and
Advisory Committee. Ronai is a former collegiate basketball player and has a background in Soccer
as well Track and Field.
